Hi, I have a Honda FX100a GX31 Rototiller with a Walbro 225 Carb. I've rebuilt the Carb 3 times with all new gaskets and needle valve.

I've even gave all parts a Jewelry Ultrasonic bath and cleaned the fuel filter. The problem is the Engine starts right up with a couple of pumps of the gas pump.

The engine will run and idle fine but when I attempt to accelerate, the engine quickly dies. I've check the spark plug, looks light tan and gap is perfect. I'm at loss here.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The Carb was rebuilt and is perfect. Gas cap rubber vent was stuck together causing vapor lock, now fixed. Valves were out of adjustment, now adjusted as per manual. Fuel lines replaced.

Fuel filter cleaned and like new. I haven't check the compression cause my gage is for automotive, I may have to go to Harbor Freight and see if they have one. So.Rings replaced, valves adjusted, new spark plug gapped to 25, carb rebuilt with all new gaskets, fuel lines replaced, fuel filter cleaned, gas cap now vented and it still starts on first pull, idles fine but.BOGS on acceleration. I now have a brand new stick of dynamite and will try that next. Any suggestions before I light this fuse???? Oh, man, Somebody must have a suggestion. I started it again today.

Starts easy, idles on choke, take it off Choke and use the Throttle Cable real quick and I can keep it running, but.it still won't accelerate and acts like its starving for fuel or air. I'm guessing air, cause when I pump the bulb once while running, it starts to die. That tells me its starving for air. Think I'll start it tomorrow and while its running, I'll spray Carb Cleaner all over the carb and see what happens!!! Hopefully it'll rev up and show me its starving for.something? Maybe I'll spray it with Beer, works for me!! Thanks WJA.thought I was losing my mind.

Well, carb rebuild #5 didn't work. Still starts on 2nd pull, idles on choke and only runs if I take off the Choke and Accelerate quickly. Only thing I haven't checked is the amount of spark its getting. Not sure how to check a Coil but I guess I'll find out.

I would think if its getting enough Spark to Start, that should be fine.but perhaps its not getting enough Spark to run at high speed. Also, I noticed today that it gets quite abit of blowback through the Valve cover into the Air Cleaner. After running it for about 5mins the air filter sponge gets a lot of oil on it just from 5mins of running?

Previous owner put on new Rings (or ring) on the Piston and I hope they got it right. So for today, I'll tear it apart again, check the coil to flywheel clearance, sand the flywheel and coil mating parts to ensure good contact and measure the distance between the coil and the flywheel. Then I'll put my finger on the end of the coil wire and give it a good yank. If I get an instant Fro, then I'll know its putting out the proper spark.
